Novocure

About novocure

Novocure broke new ground to develop a cancer therapy for solid tumors. It all began in 2000, when our founder Yoram Palti – for many years a professor of physiology and biophysics at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology – had retired. He now wanted to use his expertise to develop a new type of cancer therapy for solid tumors. His method was designed to destroy tumor cells while sparing healthy tissue and thus avoiding the life-changing side effects that occurred with existing cancer therapies.

Professor Palti set up a laboratory in his basement and eventually founded Novocure to offer patients a new cancer therapy. This therapy is based on his now proven hypothesis that alternating electric fields, when applied at certain frequencies, can disrupt cancer cell division and cause the death of cancer cells. This innovative treatment, called TTFields, is a completely new approach to cancer therapy.
